"Meant to Be"

I can't help but think of my amazing son when I hear this song...

"Radical" read-along

Have you heard of the book "Radical" by David Platt?  It's part of a church movement called "The Radical Experiment" which essentially challenges Christians to take a hard look at the way we live our lives.  It's extremely convicting and invigorating at the same time, and it's definitely not for "Sunday-only Christians" (or maybe it is...who am I to say?!).

Without going much further into it (you can do that on your own), I am excited to be a part of an online read-along of Radical, put on by another blogger, Marla Taviano.  The study starts Sept. 7 and will go over a chapter a week.  I am so excited about this!  I have read the first couple of chapters before and it's the kind of book that really needs to be discussed and brainstormed about.  Due to kids and other fun aspects of my life (insert sarcasm font here), I never made the time to finish reading.  So now I have motivation!  I am posting this on my blog to invite others to join along in the reading and subsequent discussions.  If you have a heart for missions and (like me) struggle with Matthew 19:21-22, this might be just the study you need!  Oh, and you don't necessarily need to have a blog to participate. :)

1st Day of Kindergarten!

The line to get into school.

C and a friend who he knows from church.  They are in the same class, which may be a blessing or a curse for Mrs. S (their teacher).  Time will tell! ;)

The ever necessary "backpack wall"

Looking quite studious (looks can be deceiving).

A pretty good look at C in his school uniform.
While I'm not crazy about the cost of them, he does look quite dapper!

E claiming a desk
(excuse the bed-head, we were lucky to get there on time as it was!)

Not sure what was up with C's "smiles", but I hope he gets it together
by school photo day!

C dove right in and got to work!

I don't think the little girl next to C will go hungry.  Just a hunch.

The back of the classroom

The front of the classroom.  Take note of C's desk.  In the front.  Next to the teacher's desk.  For good reason. ;)

Here's to the class of 2023 (I don't even want to think of how old I'll be),
have a a great kindergarten year!!

It is all Relevant

I REALLY  want to go to this:
But, alas, I am finding out about it a little too late.  This year's conference is in PA which means airline fare + conference ticket = big bucks.  Plus, I am still getting to know other moms in the blogging community and don't *quite* have confidence to go it alone without knowing at least a few who are attending (darn me for being an introvert!).  Perhaps next year..!

On another note, I am meeting a lot of cool mom bloggers out there, thanks to Blog Hop 2010.  There are so many fascinating people with so many fascinating hobbies and talents.  Aside from it sometimes making me feel like a complete underachiever (kidding...sort of), I am inspired on a daily basis to make being a SAHM (stay-at-home-mom) the best adventure ever.  Yes, sometimes I would gladly trade my kids in for more intellectual conversations and people who actually pick up after themselves, but overall I know the blessing it is to be there for every boo-boo, every achievement, and every hug.  I truly wouldn't trade that for anything in the world...and here's a special shout-out to all SAHM's (even the ones out there who make me feel guilty if I take a 5-minute breather on the couch to eat a bon-bon):  You rock! :)

Blog Hop 2010

Thanks to Robin at Pensieve, we bloggers have a chance to network from the comfort of our home and make new blogging friends.  Fun!

So, about me and my blog...my name is Tami and I am a stay-at-home mom to 2 awesome kids:  Csaba (6), and Emersen (2).  My husband, Tom, owns his own home inspection business and we will celebrate our 5th anniversary this November.

Let me bullet-point the stuff I like to talk about on my blog:

:: Adoption - we adopted our son from Hungary in Nov. '07 (which clarifies the fact that I have a 6yo son and have been married for 5 years, ahem).  I am passionate about orphans world-wide getting forever families!

:: Photography - I love taking pictures even though I am a complete amateur!  I also fiddle and play around in photoshop to give face-lifts to my blog and photos.

:: Cake Decorating - This is also a newly acquired skill that I am honing.  You can see my first fondant-covered creation here...but don't look too closely! :)

:: My Kids - self-explanatory, but we do have interesting days around here!

:: Christianity - I am a Christian who seeks to serve God with everything I have.  Sometimes I get on my soapbox about current events or just like to ruminate on goings-on, but it's usually tame and more for encouragement/insight.

That's it in a nutshell.  Thanks for reading and drop by anytime (and when you do so, please let me know by leaving a comment so I can visit your blog too)!
Happy blogging! :o)
